Because the cancer center is located on the Somerset Medical Center campus, patients have access to all of the medical center’s services, including additional radiology and nuclear medicine services. The medical center’s Radiology Department uses a modern filmless system to produce digital images from diagnostic equipment, such as X-rays and MRIs. Digital images are stored on a computer for future retrieval, and patients may take their images with them on a CD-ROM.
Our diagnostic radiology and nuclear medicine services include:
- Positron emission technology (PET/CT) scanning, a state-of-the-art method of detecting biochemical cancers
- MRI breast imaging and MRI-guided breast biopsies
- Rapid, precise, 64-slice computerized tomography (CT) scanning
- Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
- Comprehensive nuclear medicine services
- X-ray imaging
- Ultrasound services via five high-tech scanners
